David R. Burrus is
founder and Chairman of the Board of Burrus Investment Group,
Inc. In addition, he is a Principal in many
domestic and international businesses. A native of
Lexington, Kentucky, Mr. Burrus resides in Palm Beach, Florida.
Encompassing a broad range of real estate activities,
Mr. Burrus's primary business interests include investment
in and development of office buildings, hotels, shopping centers,
festival marketplaces, apartments, condominiums and land.
Through his proprietorship of Gulf South Mortgage Company,
he has provided financing, equity capital and consultation
for a large number of business ventures and real estate projects for
over fifty years. Mr. Burrus
has been very active in a wide range of business, civic and
cultural activities of local and international prominence.
Many of these organizations have honored Mr. Burrus with
awards for his outstanding participation and service.
He is chairman and founder of The Burrus Foundation, a charitable
trust for philanthropic endeavors, which provides funding for
various medical, environmental, education-related and law enforcement
projects. Mr. Burrus is a senior member of the National
Association of Review Appraisers and Mortgage Underwriters.
Mr. Burrus enjoys an enthusiastic interest in equestrian and
water-related activities, environmental conservation and music.
and Chief Executive Officer George
Newton cofounded Burrus Investment Group as President
and Chief Executive Officer. He first became associated with
David Burrus in 1984 when he joined Berger and Burrus Investments
as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Newton serves as president or
chairman of each affiliate company and for the firm's various
hotels and real-estate investment partnerships. He is primarily
responsible for acquisitions, structure, market positioning,
and financial performance
of each property, is Chairman of Expotel Hospitality Services, LLC and Enta Ticketing Solutions Group. Mr Newton served as a director
of Grand Heritage Hotels. Mr. Newton is a Certified Public Accountant,
a Certified Hotel Administrator and a licensed real estate broker
. He has held a number
of top positions in the field of real estate and investment,
including Chief Financial Officer of Morley Properties of Orlando,
FL; he was the chief financial officer of Coleman Development
Company, Inc.; developer of many prominent office buildings
and hotels in New Orleans, as well as president of its affiliated
service businesses. He began his career as a CPA at a big eight
international public accounting firm. Mr. Newton has served
on the advisory council of the business college at the University
of Southern Mississippi, in the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce,
the President's Academy of the Educational Institute of the
American Hotel & Motel Association, the St. Paul's School
Foundation Board, The Burrus Foundation, Metairie Country Club,
Burnt Pine Golf Club at Sandestin, Florida, The Portrait Society of America and numerous other
professional and civic organizations. Married for more
than forty-five years to Sharron Sterling, Mr. Newton has three
grown children and four grandchildren.
Financial Officer Christopher
D. Schott joined Burrus Investment Group in 1986 as its Corporate
Controller. He now serves as the firm's Chief Financial Officer,
member of the Board of Directors of the affiliates, and Secretary
/Treasurer and corporate general partner of each of the affiliate's
partnerships. Mr. Schott is responsible for managing and monitoring
accounting information for Burrus Investment Group, Inc. and
its related affiliates, as well as for implementing internal
planning, financing and mortgage loan compliance. Mr.
Schott is a Certified Public Accountant and a licensed Real
Estate Agent. He was previously an audit senior at the firm
of Deloitte & Touche and a controller for a local real estate
company. Mr. Schott is a member of the New Orleans
Chapter of the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants,
and serves on the Board of Directors of The Burrus Foundation.
A native of New Orleans, Mr. Schott is married and the father of four
|| Asset Manager Richard Ganucheau joined Burrus
Investment Group, Inc. in 1989 to build the property management
division for company owned real estate. In 1990 he assumed the role of
Technology Manager to oversee every aspect of their computer and
telecommunications projects. Richard has since been a hands-on manager
who continues to achieve a difficult balance between cost containment
and quality. He has also taken on the additional task of overseeing Risk
Management for the entire portfolio. Richard graduated from Louisiana
State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He resides just
outside of New Orleans in Mandeville with his wife, Jeanne-Marie, and
their two daughters.
